Name: Jamie Bartlett
Occupation: Graphic Designer/Blogger

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I'm proud to say, I've always wanted to be an artist. I love creating things. My whole family is really creative in so many different ways. I think that atmosphere really encouraged my creativity. My mom always had crafts for us and made sure I had a box of crayons and stacks of paper at my disposal.

2. What would you classify your design style as?
Hmm I've never really thought about this. I think a good designer can design in the style of their client, but might have a favorite style to design in. In that case my favorite style would be vintage. I love the colors and textures.

3. What is your most favorite project you've worked on?
This might sound bias, but my favorite project I've worked on would definitely be my wedding. My husband and I designed our invitations and everything together. We had so much fun and they turned out just how we wanted. As far as projects for clients though, I just finished some wedding invitations for another bride. Those were really fun to do too.

4. Who is your current designer obsession?
I love Hammpress and Jessica Hische. They both use type so beautifully. I've been able to visit Hammerpress a few times and I was in heaven.

5. Where would you like to see your business in 5 years?
We still are a very young business, so we have a lot of growing to do. I would love to add more to our blog and start selling our art at craft shows. I also would like to do more custom wedding invitations. Really, I could go on and on. There is just so much I want to do. The possibilities are endless.

6. What do you love to do on a day off?
I love just being with my husband. I still haven't managed to figure out how to turn my creativity off on the weekends. So usually on the weekends we are building or designing something for ourselves.

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you call home?
The adventurer in me would say London, UK. I love it it there. But the other part of me would want to live anywhere close to family. Right now I don't live in either of those places. I guess I should move at some point.

Thanks Jamie! Check out A Pair of Pears here!

In the Studio: Times infinity

Matt is a hugely talented singer/songwriter. For our anniversary a few months ago, he wrote me a song that completely touched my heart. In one part of the song, the lyrics say, "I love you times infinity"; it's my favorite part of the song so I gifted those words back to him by creating a calculator print and framed it to hang in our home :)

Striped garden florals

Speaking of weddings, I am head over heals in LOVE with this vibrant striped and floral wedding shoot featured on Style Me Pretty. The colors are so fun and modern and the sweet striped ribbon braided into the bride's hair is just darling

I'm headin down to San Diego for the next few days...Saralyn and I are flying down to be there for our sister Katie's wedding gown fitting! Since we couldn't be there for her actual dress selection we really wanted to be there to be a part of making sure the gown is just right for her special day. We'll also be spending a lot of time at the beach, watching bad movies, and having some quality sister time before the big day

I've got some really great posts lined up for the next few days...I'll be back soon! xoxo

Friday Roundup: Coral and minty delights

In preparing for my sister's wedding next month, probably the most essential duty I've had has been trying to find a bridesmaid dress. Katie was pretty relaxed about the choosing of the dresses simply telling her bridal party to find stapless coral dresses. Well, turns out that was easier said than done when Saralyn and I ended up spending around 6 hours darting in and out of stores in SF the other weekend. We finally ended up finding one that suited our tastes on, so now we just need to accessorize it! I've totally become enamored with mint green lately and am liking the idea of this coral and mint green combo...kind of a spin on Miami Vice, except without the scrunched blazer sleeves

Pure Pynn

Samantha Pynn is an interior designer for HGTV Canada's Pure Design, and I must say I wish we had the show here in the states! Her feminine and flirty style catches my eye in a big way, especially those sharp black molded plywood chairs!

Formatting symbols

As a graphic designer and desktop publisher, I can certainly appreciate all the type and formatting references made by Anthropologie's Pilcro Collection. I'd like it even more if each pair of jeans actually resembled each formatting character, like the Superscript pant could've been a tiny pair of shorts. Eh? Eh? Maybe not. I am diggin the big flared leg that it actually is though; and of course I just donated all my old flared legs a few years back so guess I gotta stock up again

How fun are these wallpapers from Ferm Living? They're all so modern and graphic, they really pack a punch to these gorgeously styled rooms. Since Matt and I have been looking for a house I've been daydreaming of housing entirely new furniture and possibly being able to switch out lighting and bathroom fixtures if need be in this new home, luxuries that a renter like myself can't take advantage of. Maybe wallpapering a smaller room like the office or a hallway? Ah, I'm getting so ahead of myself! But a girl can dream...

In the Studio: Wedding Belles Invitation Suite

I've been wanting to do a wedding collection for a while now, so I'm thrilled to have put the finishing touches on the Wedding Belles Invitation Suite, listed in our online shoppe! Each design is customizable and comes with a matching Reply card. My favorite is the Blackout Cuties Suite, I thought it would be appropriate for a couple who were marrying in an art gallery or even a fun summer BBQ wedding.

Friday Roundup: Back to School Cool

My sister started her Fall semester of school earlier this week, and I'm not jealous of that in the least. I'm much more a working woman than an academic, and was already taking temp jobs and internships on top of my retail management role of my last semester of school years ago. I've been a full-time working lady at an internal creative services department at an investment bank for almost 5 years, and have now added Victory Paper to my roster of duties. For those of you who are braving the back to school blues, you can get a little excited at least about toting these items to class

A Woodsy Wedding

I'm not an outdoors kind of gal, but for some reason I'm really drawn to outdoor country type of weddings. Maybe it's the beautiful woodsy elements? The mixture of colorful wildflowers? Either way I'm adoring this barn yard wedding's details featured on Style Me Pretty. That rough-wood cupcake pedestal is such kitschy perfection

Turning over a new Leif

There's so many pretty and bold things happening in the Leif Shop I can hardly contain myself! I really love this company's mission statement too which says that they set out to put special little touches in the day-to-day items that make up our really is those little things that enrich our lives isn't it? I know that using my bar of chocolate peppermint soap really makes me happy, along with my ceramic bird shapped salt and pepper shakers more than if I were to season my food with a regular cylinder shapped shaker. The little details really do count, so why not buy a neon pink cake server to brighten your cake cutting moment?

Office Space

After visiting our friend's new house this weekend, it's got Matt and me thinking about a purchase of a house ourselves. It would be so convenient to have an extra room or two to tuck away the computer workstation with its mess of paper and files and numerous books left over from design school. Any of these home office situations would be just fine by me
