Cute paper crafts

How darling are these little tablescape accessories? These sweet and whimsical little pinwheels and moustaches add a special little touch to this dessert table. This comes from the delightful couple that make up Paper + Cup, and they even have their own book full of adorable paper craft projects! They also have a cute lil pup on the cover of it too which makes it even more adorable!

Embroidered lithographs

I love how surprising these lithographs created by Shaun Kardinal featured on booooooom are! The mixed media displayed with hand-embroidered shapes over the lithographs are so sharp and creative! My favorite is the 3D glasses staring out into the wilderness, although I do have a fondness for my city's Golden Gate...just as long as it's not a couple climbing up one of the towers for the guy to propose!

Birds of a feather

I've got some more design eye candy for you today, this time in the form of Elsie of A Beautiful Mess' wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake. I'm pretty much in love with every detail down to the white feathers sprinkled down the aisle. Elsie put so much thought and creativity into every element and even features DIY tutorials on her bouquets and boutonnieres on her irresistibly crafty and cute!

Go ask Alice...when she's ten feet tall

So I'm in the process of trying to plan my sister's bachelorette party down in San Diego. It poses a few difficulties trying to pick a venue that is a few hundred miles away that I've never been to before. I found this super cool spot on Yelp called Vin De Syrah, that from the looks of it, if I lived in San Diego I would totally be there every weekend. It's like an Alice in Wonderland acid trip but with the sophistication of wine and cheese tastings! The saturated colors, foliage on the walls, and rustic wood accents...I would probably just stare at all the details all night! Unfortunately it doesn't meet our requirements of a private room for this particular event, and from the looks of the Yelp reviews is more of a loud club scene at night, but if I'm ever down in San Diego any other time, I'd totally love to sip some Pinot down in the rabbit hole!

Etsy Wetsy

You may or may not have noticed a new little button in the sidebar for our online shoppe! I've set up shop on Etsy and will be stocking it full of little goodies in the near future...I'll keep you updated on when I start posting items for sale! I love how Etsy embraces all things handmade and was delighted to see that their headquarters does the same! Phone booth doors, psychedelic lamps, and vinyl records just make it so crafty and Etsy! And who wouldn't want to play a round of ping pong at the office?

In the Studio: That's why they're called business socks

Thought I'd share some new business cards I got printed the other week! I wanted to keep the design simple with displaying the logo and contact information and created a small red decorative border to tie in the wax seal from the logo. We printed digitally on Somerset Soft White 300gm paper so it's not blaringly white cardstock which I like. Thanks to Mercurio Brothers Printing in Berkeley for the hand! Really awesome folks, I highly suggest them to anyone who lives in the Bay

[1] days of summer

Summer is officially upon us, and the weather's beginning to heat up in the Bay Area...this means sleeping with the fans on, leaving windows open letting in the noise from the freeway, and 7PM dips in my complex's pool with popsicles. The start of summer also marks the opening of the county fair this week which I'm always so stoked about...there's something about funnel cake and carnival games that really epitomizes summer for me. These photos from The Dizzy Pixie really captures those feelings of a hazy summer day and makes me want to just spend a sunny afternoon lying in a field

She blinded me with science!

As I've mentioned before, my better half, Matt, is a science geek; so I was completely delighted when I ran across photos of this science themed bridal shower on Style Me Pretty a while back. The drinks might not seem the most appetizing being served in beakers, but I'm loving the pops of teal and nod to the periodic table with the bath salts. SCIENCE!

Friday Roundup: Biiiicycle Biiiicycle

There's this lovely little bike trail by my house that if I hadn't given away my bike a few months ago I'd totally be riding today. It's such a pretty sight, it runs along the waterfront and into the Berkeley Marina. It's fun to ride recreationally but it's also almost necessary when running errands in Berkeley, unless you wanna circle a three block perimeter for half an hour until you find parking. Here's a roundup of all things that embrace our two-wheeled companions

1. Chanel Bicycle,  2. Design House Stockholm bicycle basket,  3. Anthropologie,  4. Bicycle Correspondence Set by Yellow Owl Workshop,  5. Urban Outfitters magnetic poetry kit,  6. Greece on my Wheels by Edward Enfield, cover art by Alice Stevenson,  7. Le Cyclone Cycle Sans Chaine Milders Fils wood platter from MayberryGeneralStore,  8. 6-pack frame cinch from WalnutStudiolo (don't drink and ride),  9. CB2 bicycle mirrors via Apartment Therapy,  10. Kate Spade Essex Bike Scout

I Heart Josef Frank

I'm so inspired by these textiles from the late, great, Josef Frank. His patterns and illustrations were so imaginative and vivid, like something out of a Rousseau painting. While I adore his floral and botanical collections, I'm loving his colorful hand-drawn map of Manhattan that I just discovered! Truly magical.

Country florals

These delightful floral arrangements are so effortless, as though someone may have been strolling through a meadow picking colorful wildflowers along the way. Displaying them in mason jars and fruit crates just adds to the charm!

Book 'em Danno

These lil bookmarks are so clever: The "B" in the company name doubles as reading spectacles! It just goes to show that you don't need alot of bells and whistles to make an impactful design

In the Studio: I love it when you call me Big Papa

Father's Day is next Sunday! My dads (yes, multiple dads, but not in the Rachel Berry's dads kinda way) are usually pretty easy to get gifts for; a giftcard tucked inside a card will suffice...and an omelette breakfast doesn't hurt either. AND HEY if you wanna be a rad kid and you call your dad "Pops", then you should get this card for him. Contact info to order in the sidebar

Friday Roundup: Window Shopping

I've really been trying to save money lately and not blow my paychecks on frivolous items like shoes and purses (even though there are more than a few Kate Spade purses I've had my eye on!). So I've limited myself to window shopping, just browsing through the little delights I've disciplined myself away from...there are, in addition, some quite delightful window treatments themselves that boost this experience's visual stimulation. As a former intern at a graphics company that specialized in window decals, I can tell you cutting and applying these little displays is no easy feat (#4 below is an example of my own handy-work from that internship, created for Gump's department store in SF!) Window shop a few windows below:

"These are O.R. scrubs..."

I'm no film buff, but I do enjoy a good art house flick from time to time, my favorite being Wes Anderson films. I love how artfully he displays a story on-screen with vintage 70's visuals, soft lighting, and quirky offbeat characters. I'm about to purchase one of these prints from Poster Cabaret which pay tribute to scenes from my 3 favorite Wes Anderson movies, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, and Darjeeling Limited. I'll probably end up getting the Tenenbaums one since that movie inspired me to purchase my own red Adidas tracksuit jacket back in the day. Super cool.

I like jammin wit you

How cutie patootie are these customized jam labels? As a daily peanut butter and jelly breakfast eater, I would love to get a lil jar of jam as a wedding favor! (hint hint to my sister with her impending nuptials)

"Remember when your mom would drop you off at the movie theatre...jar of jam and a little spoon..."
Bonus points for you if you know where that line is from.

Oh Baby, Baby

This is the most darling baby shower dessert table styling I've seen. The muted hues, spindly cake stand, and playful balloons and kites completely embody whimsical Parisian styling. I wanted to buy a cake stand for the longest time, not because I ever bake (my baking experience is limited to slicing off the Nestle Tollhouse cookie log), but because I love kitchen accessories...I'll have to use my Martha Stewart patterned cupcake wrappers one of these days...

Somebody's got a case of the Mondays

First full week of work after having a couple of holiday weekends. It's cold. It's raining (isn't it supposed to be JUNE?). BUT I'm trying to look on the bright side and get excited about a few new projects I'm working on. These lovely ceramic cups I came across from the uber talented Shanna Murray (I look forward to downloading her dreamy desktop calendars on a monthly basis) seems fitting for the mood I'd like to start out my week with...

Friday Roundup: Unexpected color

I love it when color turns up in unexpected places; it's a really simple detail that can turn an object into something special and surprising. Here is a roundup of items that use color in an unexpected way

In the Studio: Imagine

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of font treatments, I love the playfulness exhibited in using mixed media to decorate words and bring a statement to life. I created this treatment for lyrics from John Lennon's "Imagine"; lyrics that still hold weight today 40 years after they were written
