With the month of April soon to be behind us, it's time to say goodbye to the showers and hello to the flowers! I love to use flowers in styling, especially when it comes to decorating my apartment...don't judge me, but I use fake flowers around my house. I have what people would call a black thumb in that I pretty much kill every plant I've ever owned, and I'm talkin like killing these plants to the point where they literally will start rotting. SO, the fake flowers add a touch of color and cheer without the pungent scent of rotting plant juices taking over my apartment. I love the artfulness shown in these paper flowers...maybe paper flowers can join my silk and plastic flowers around my black thumb home

In the Studio: Sneak Peek: Intrinsic

SOOooo my boyfriend is pretty amazing: scientist by day, rock star by night...it's like he's using 100% of his brain...like Bradley Cooper in that movie Limitless (yes, I just went there). His band, Intrinsic is working on recording some demo tracks for which I have created this cover for the CD sleeve. Him being a scientist and all, I thought some kind of diagram would be fitting while capturing the feeling invoked by their ethereal sound. Check out their MySpace music page here! xoxo

Secrets from a Stylist

I love me some Emily Henderson. From the first episode of last season's HGTV Design Star when she fubbed up the white box challenge and candidly turned her taped TV host segment into a "what I should have done" segment, I was hooked. I love the looks she's been putting together on her new show, Secrets from a Stylist. I especially loved this look of Bohemian meets Mad Men mid-century...the Japanese grass cloth wallpaper does so much to accent and texturize the room! If only my rental allowed such brazen design choices...

Bookeyed Jack

This lovely font created by the folks over at Tart Workshop has me daydreaming of hand-drawn children's books of the past. I can just imagine using this with an old illustrated library check out card

The Princess Diaries

Later this week, Prince William will marry Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in royal fashion in what is sure to be the wedding of the century. This print, created by TaylorsType and sold through Etsy, commemorates the occasion with a festive mixture of fonts and illustrations perfectly adorned in the UK's blue, red and white. I love that the wedding car has a teapot trailing behind it, it's just so British of them! Cheers!

In the Studio: Resume packet

As a graphic designer, or in any profession for that matter, it can be hard to stand out in a stack of resumes on a potential employer's desk. Sure, a list of impressive references can go a long way, but I think these nifty little resume packets can really do the trick in attracting someone's eye in a sea of black and white.

My little caricature pictured throughout is whistling a tune basically because I'm always singing...especially on 6 hour roadtrips to LA; apologies to my BFF and sister for having to listen to me sing along with the entire soundtrack to Rent during said roadtrip...

This is my online portfolio!
